Would you like to create your own colour scheme in sunny Portugal using paint mixtures based on homemade essential oils, complete with a hand-carved frame? Soon you will be able to take a three-day course in a beautiful location, where you will paint your own colour scheme, complete with a hand-carved frame. The course will be given in the renovated monastery ruins of ‘het Convento’ in Mertola.

Each participant will receive their own sponge set, two empty panels and 1 lime wood frame. Each shape is different. As a participant, you will paint your own painting and carve your own frame. You will work with the glazing technique and learn how to create atmospheric veils and how to make your own natural colour mixtures with essential oils (hydrolates), swirled water and pigments. At the end, we will attach the panel and the hanging system, and you can take your own colour mood home with you.

What will you learn?

how to create atmospheric glazing (veiling)
how to make your own paint mixtures with natural pigments
different techniques for working with wood (gouging, finishing, maintenance)
how to make your own essential oils and hydrosols to add to the paint
the special effect of ‘spiralled water’ during the painting process
background information on art, colour theory and anthroposophy
